SEE PhD Students Win Best Student Paper Award at PEET 2025 Under Prof. Chunhua Liu’s Supervision
We are proud to share that Mr. Hongwu Chen, a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Chunhua Liu at the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), has received the Best Student Paper Award at the 2025 International Conference on Power Engineering and Electrical Technology (PEET 2025). He was joined by fellow PhD students Yiwen Liao and Hongliang Guo, and postdoctoral fellow Dr. Yong Chen, in co-authoring the award-winning paper.

Their paper, titled “A Deadbeat Predictive Flux-Weakening Control Considering Voltage and Current Constraints for Surface-Mounted PMSMs”, was developed under Prof. Liu’s guidance and recognized for its academic excellence and innovative contributions to the field of power engineering and electrical technology.

Held from 22–24 October 2025 at Ritsumeikan University’s Biwako–Kusatsu Campus in Japan, PEET 2025 brought together researchers, academics, and industry experts from 19 countries and regions. The conference served as a vibrant platform for exchanging ideas and showcasing cutting-edge developments in power engineering.
This prestigious recognition not only highlights the outstanding research capabilities of Mr. Chen and his co-authors but also underscores the impactful contributions of Prof. Liu’s research group in advancing the state of the art in electric machine control and power electronics. Their achievement reflects SEE’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation and global collaboration.
