SEE PhD Student Miss Qiuyi Shi Won the Best Paper Award at MCM 2025

PhD student Miss Qiuyi Shi from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), supervised by Prof. Edwin Tso, Associate Dean (Internationalisation and Outreach) of SEE, has received the Best Paper Award at the 11th World Congress on Mechanical, Chemical, and Material Engineering (MCM 2025), held on 21 August in Paris, France.

Miss Shi demonstrated exceptional presentation skills, an innovative research spirit, and the ability to advance cutting‑edge research. This achievement also reflects the outstanding mentorship and guidance of Prof. Tso, whose expertise has been instrumental in shaping her success.

The World Congress on Mechanical, Chemical, and Material Engineering (MCM) is a globally renowned platform that brings together leading researchers, engineers, and academics to share advancements in mechanical, chemical, and material engineering, fostering collaboration and showcasing groundbreaking research. The award was conferred on Miss Shi’s paper titled "Vanadium Dioxide - Perovskite Hybrid Thermochromic Smart Window for Full-Spectrum Control". This innovative research explores the development of a novel thermochromic smart window technology that integrates vanadium dioxide and perovskite materials to achieve dynamic light control across the full spectrum. By addressing energy efficiency and thermal regulation in buildings, the work presents a sustainable solution with significant potential for real-world applications in smart infrastructure and green architecture.
