Driving Sustainable Solutions: CityUHK SEE and Universitas Indonesia Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Host Joint Research Symposium

On 25 June 2026, a senior delegation from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) embarked on a highly successful institutional visit to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the University of Indonesia (UI). This pivotal visit aimed to catalyze international research collaborations and strengthen academic ties in the fields of sustainability energy, environment, and climate.

The visit commenced with warm welcome remarks from Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si., Dean of FMIPA UI, and Prof. Benjamin Horton, Dean of SEE CityUHK. Both leaders underscored the critical global necessity for interdisciplinary research tackling climate change and energy transitions. Following an introductory overview of SEE’s academic achievements and strategic vision presented by Prof. Horton, faculty members from both institutions engaged in a high-impact Research Workshop.

The workshop featured concise presentations highlighting cutting-edge research developments from prominent faculty speakers, including:

  • SEE, CityUHK: Prof. Edwin Tso, Prof. Shauhrat Chopra, Prof. Fatwa Abdi, Prof. Ping Han, Prof. JungEun Chu, Prof. Tanghua Li, and Prof. Peipei Chen.

To conclude the productive visit, the UI hosts accompanied the SEE delegation on a comprehensive tour of the Department of Biology and the Centre of Excellence (CoE) laboratories, paving the way for tangible, hands-on scientific cooperation.
