Abstract

This session will share practical insights into career preparation and planning during university, with a focus on building a strong foundation for internships and job opportunities in the energy and environment sector. Drawing from my own experiences as a recent graduate from CityU’s Energy Science and Engineering programme, the talk will cover key strategies for developing skills, gaining exposure to different industries, securing internships, mastering job search skills, and planning long-term career growth in sustainability and green technologies. Participants will gain actionable advice on standing out in a competitive field and preparing for roles in Hong Kong’s evolving energy landscape.

About the Speaker

Jeffrey Yau is a recent graduate from City University of Hong Kong's School of Energy and Environment, holding a Bachelor's degree in Energy Science and Engineering. With hands-on experience from internships at CLP Power Limited and Great Eagle Group, focusing on emission data analysis, climate risk assessments, and ESG systems, Jeffrey has developed practical skills in sustainability and green technologies. He is currently a Supply Chain Sustainability Analyst at Ralph Lauren, where he contributes to global sustainability initiatives, including data management, supplier engagement, and progress toward environmental goals. Passionate about guiding students, he aims to share his university journey and career preparation strategies to help others navigate their paths in the energy and environment field.
