SEE Dean Professor Benjamin Horton Delivers Keynote at HKIS Annual Conference 2025

HKIS Annual Conference 2025

The 32nd Annual Conference of the Hong Kong Institution of Science (HKIS) was held on 13 December 2025 at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), bringing together leading scientists, academics, and industry professionals to exchange insights on science, innovation, and sustainability.

The conference commenced with welcoming remarks by Prof. Anthony Man Cho So, President of HKIS, and Prof. Anderson Ho Cheung Shum, Vice-President (Research) and Chair Professor at CityUHK.

A highlight of the event was the keynote lecture delivered by Prof. Benjamin Horton, Dean of the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) and Chair Professor of Earth Science. In his address, “Now or Never: The Pivotal Moment for Climate and Sustainability”, Prof. Horton emphasized the urgent need for collective action to combat climate change and outlined strategic pathways to enhance resilience and sustainability. His compelling presentation inspired participants to reflect on the critical role of science in shaping a sustainable future.
