Biography
Prof. Pavel Slunsky obtained his veterinary degree (MVDr., with honors) from the University of Veterinary Medicine Brno, Czech Republic. Following graduation, he completed an internship and an assistantship in small animal surgery at the Clinic for Small Animals, Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. He then pursued a residency with the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) at the same institution.
In 2019, he was awarded the title of Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) and completed his doctoral degree (Dr. med. vet.) at Freie Universität Berlin that same year.
Pavel has held senior clinical positions in specialist and referral centers in Germany, actively engaging in advanced referral surgery, surgical consultation, and specialist coaching. Since 2021, he has also contributed to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in small animal surgery at the University of Veterinary Medicine Brno. Additionally, he has served as the primary supervisor for two ECVS residents and has co-supervised three other ECVS residents in training.
Pavel has broad research interests in small animal surgery, focusing particularly on feline biomechanics and traumatology. His research addresses clinically relevant questions related to implant stability, fracture healing, soft tissue reconstruction, and evidence-based surgical techniques.
His work aims to improve surgical decision-making and outcomes in companion animal patients by combining fundamental biomechanical principles with applied clinical investigation.
