Biography

Dr Maxime (Max) Boulay is an Emergency Veterinarian at the CityU Veterinary Medical Centre, where he leads the provision of emergency and intensive care for walk-in and referral patients in a large multi-specialist hospital equipped with advanced ICU and ventilator support. He is actively involved in clinical teaching, regularly supervising and mentoring veterinary nurses, junior veterinarians and final-year veterinary students during their emergency and critical care rotations.

Dr Boulay graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Hons) from the University of Queensland in 2011 and subsequently obtained Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Emergency and Critical Care. He has pursued extensive postgraduate training, including multi module programmes in emergency and critical care medicine, diagnostic imaging and small animal internal medicine, as well as further continuing education in wildlife and international animal health.

Prior to joining CityU, Dr Boulay worked in a variety of clinical environments across Australia, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Hong Kong, ranging from mixed and small animal general practice to 24/7 referral and emergency hospitals.

Dr Boulay has a strong interest in global veterinary practice and animal welfare and has volunteered with multiple organisations in Asia, Africa, the Pacific and the Caribbean, contributing to shelter medicine, population control and wildlife care programmes. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, outdoor rock climbing, travel and exploring local food cultures, and he is proficient in French.
