Biography
Dr. Kate Forster is from the United Kingdom and gained her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Cambridge, UK. She completed an internship at Dick White Referrals, UK., before completing her residency in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Liverpool, UK. Dr. Kate gained her European Diploma in Small Animal Surgery in 2015 and has been working as a Specialist soft tissue surgeon ever since. This has included working at Davies Veterinary Specialists UK., for 6 years. In the last 5 years, Dr. Kate has divided her time working in private referral hospitals in the UK and teaching students, interns and surgical residents at the University of Cambridge and the University of Edinburgh. Dr Kate started working at CityU VMC in 2025 and is keen to continue with her teaching interests at the university.
Dr. Kate's soft tissue surgery interests include maxillofacial surgery, in particular, the resection of maxillary, mandibular, and orbital tumours, facial reconstruction and cleft palate surgery. Her most recent research and book publications include the resection of vaginal tumours in feline patients, reconstruction techniques using axillary pattern flaps, penetrating thoracic foreign bodies and upper airway surgery.
Dr. Kate has recently held a two-year position as Associate Editor for the Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP), has lectured for Improve International CPD providers for seven years and currently holds the position of examiner of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS exam committee) where she is involved in setting the Board examination for surgical residents to become European Specialists in Small Animal Surgery. Teaching and training is something Dr. Kate finds particularly rewarding.
