“In order to achieve excellence, one
has to be passionate about what it is
they are striving towards to be excellent
in. An individual with less resources
and talent can still win someone over
if they put in the time, effort and have
the passion to go the extra mile,” Jason
says.

Jason is definitely someone who has
gone the extra mile. He has taken part in
many extracurricular activities and, was 11
a captain of the CityU Chinese Debating
Team, has won numerous debates. As
a debater, Jason learnt through the
intensive drilling of the importance of
identifying crux of problems; digging of
important ideas and objective supporting
evidences; organising and presenting
ideas persuasively and confidently as well
as empathetic understanding of others’
perspectives. As a leader, he learnt to
motivate, communicate and collaborate
with team members who have different
strengths.

Obstacles are expected on the road to
success. “We need to conquer obstacles
to achieve something that is difficult to
attain,” he says.
