Following his highly valued contribution as a member of the Programme Committee for the 2024 IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition, held in Toronto, Canada, Prof. Zhiguo Yuan AM, Chair Professor at the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), has now taken up the role of Co-Chair of the Programme Committee for the upcoming Congress in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, scheduled for late 2026.

The IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition, held every two years, is the premier global event for water professionals, covering the full water cycle. The Congress attracts thousands of leading professionals and companies from across the water sector. Focused on leading practices, innovation, and solutions, the Congress & Exhibition has a strong track record of fostering new collaborations and partnerships. It provides an excellent platform for thought leaders, decision-makers, leading researchers, and business representatives to come together, generating new insights into how pioneering science, technological innovation, and best practices shape water management.

Comprised of 25 leading experts from academia, industry, government, and non-governmental organisations, the Programme Committee is responsible for developing the programme by attracting high-quality submissions, leading the peer review process, and creating themed conference programs comprising podium and poster presentations, workshops, and summits. Prof. Yuan will co-chair the committee alongside Prof. Amy Pruden of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA.
