Local media reported how SEE's innovative research helps reduce energy consumption in secondary school

Prof. Edwin Tso, Associate Professor of the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) and our PhD alumnus, Dr. Martin Zhu, have recently been featured in local media and press, including Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) News, HK01 Company Limited (HK01), Ming Pao, Oriental Daily News (ON.CC) and TVB Pearl Magazine for their success of using invented cooling paint of i2Cool Limited to reduce energy consumption of a secondary school in summer.

The cooling paint using the innovative Passive Radiative Cooling Technology of SEE has been successfully applied in Lions College in Kwai Chung, reducing rooftop surface temperature and indoor temperature by 20°C and 2°C, respectively. It could help secondary schools to reduce energy consumption in air conditioning systems and take a step towards promoting carbon neutrality and creating a more sustainable future together.

The application of Passive Radiative Cooling Technology of SEE to cooling paints and promotion through CityU start-up company, i2Cool Company Limited, demonstrates a successful knowledge transfer story of how CityU SEE’s innovative research and technology could create impacts on the environment and society, and contribute to a sustainable future.
