Theoretical and Computational Physics

Theoretical physics is the development of mathematical models and methods for describing and understanding natural phenomena. This involves both providing explanations for empirical observations and making predictions beyond the reach of current experiments.

Computational physics is the subject that employs computer-based numerical analysis and simulations to solve physical problems and obtain approximate but accurate solutions. It relies on a quantitative theory of the problems and, hence, is closely related to theoretical physics.
