Lending Policies to Non-UGC Libraries

Our Library provides interlibrary loan materials in accordance with the Hong Kong Copyright Ordinance.

Lending Policies

The Library offers interlibrary loan services to libraries of the following institutions and organizations:

* Borrowing libraries are expected to observe IFLA’s International Resource Sharing and Document Delivery: Principles and Guidelines for Procedure.


Delivery & Return

Local libraries:
  • Book Loans: The borrowing library is responsible for pickup and return of the requested/loaned items at the Circulation Counter of the Library during counter service hours.
  • Journal Articles: Delivered via e-channel.
Non-local libraries:
  • Journal Articles: Deliver via e-channel or surface mail/airmail.

The Book Loan Rules:
  • Will lend on a case by case basis.
  • Loan fees: 5 IFLA vouchers.
  • Loan period: 40 days.
  • Renewal:
    • Users should submit their renewal requests via email.
    • Allow up to 2 renewals.
    • To be considered case by case.
  • Return: Loaned item should be returned via airmail and boxed for protection.
Note:
  1. Users from the borrowing library can keep the journal articles delivered via e-channel or surface mail for research and private study purpose.
  2. CityUHK students' dissertations or master theses are not available for loan or photocopying.

Loss & Damage

  • Borrowing libraries are responsible for returning their loans on or before the due date. Any material which is overdue for 60 days and has not been returned will be assumed to have been lost by the borrowing library. An estimated cost of replacement of the book plus processing costs will be charged to the borrowing library.
  • This also applies to any loss or damage of the loaned materials.
  • The Library reserves the right to suspend services to the borrowing library with unacceptable records of overdue, loss or book damage.
