Shaping the Future

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) is committed to conducting social science research that addresses critical social issues. Research projects cover a wide range of topics that expand our understanding of the human condition and development of human values.
In keeping with the mission of the University, the College actively pursues excellence in teaching, research and scholarly activities in humanities and social sciences, and places strong emphasis on development of the whole person through a well-rounded and broad-based professional education.

CLASS now contains eight academic units: Asian and International Studies; Chan Feng Men-ling Chan Shuk-lin Language Centre; Chinese and History; English; Linguistics and Translation; Media and Communication; Public Policy; and Social and Behavioural Sciences.

The College is committed to enrich students’ international exposure and learning experience. To strengthen its internationalisation efforts, it establishes and nurtures partnership with a list of prominent overseas institutions in the UK, Canada, Netherlands and Austria. Its students can also participate in Joint Bachelor’s Degree Programmes with Columbia University and National Taiwan University to earn 2 degrees in 4 years.
