Introduction

HKIDS is a University Research Institute that brings together interdisciplinary faculty members and students who have research interests in data science.

HKIDS is primarily comprised of members includes the tenured and tenure track faculty members of CityU. The HKIDS affiliate members are grouped into different methodology cores or application-oriented satellite divisions, where some serve as principal investigators or project team leaders in interdisciplinary projects.

HKIDS invites all data science related faculty members to become the HKIDS members. As a member, HKIDS could provide:

  • A collaboration platform to integrate data science strengths across the campus and explore interdisciplinary projects
  • Seed funding to support the development activities of significant data-related projects
  • Other benefits announced by HKIDS

HKIDS supports number of interdisciplinary research projects initiated by different faculty members. One example is the research collaboration with Guangdong University of Technology in developing big data processing techniques for performance analysis in smart factories and delivering advanced computational systems to help China’s electronics manufacturing industry. It will lead to opportunities to explore future funding and collaborations in the Greater Bay Area.
