MA Mengyang
Spotlight on MA Mengyang (Data Science), who broadened his academic horizons during his exchange at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.
Stepping onto the campus of École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) for my exchange semester, I felt I was in for something special. Nestled between Lac Léman and the Alps, EPFL offered world-class education and a transformative learning experience.
The academic rigor was evident from week one. Enrolling in two master’s-level courses, I quickly realized the depth of challenge ahead. Fast-paced lectures and advanced concepts demanded persistence, inspiring me with my peers’ dedication.
Finding accommodation in Lausanne was a test. With no student residences available, I navigated high prices and French contracts, finally landing a room in Morges—a small victory that boosted my confidence.
Nature became my sanctuary. Lake Geneva mirrored the Alps in my daily life, and a snowshoeing trip in Zermatt offered a breathtaking escape. The Swiss respect for nature was inspiring, evident in pristine trails and reliable transport.
As the semester wrapped up, I realized how much I had grown. Challenging coursework expanded my skills, while life in Switzerland taught me resilience, patience, and gratitude. My exchange was about more than credits; it was a journey of self-discovery, filled with memories of hikes, study nights, and stargazing.
