Hok Yi Lam, a Bachelor of Laws student, expanded her legal perspective during her exchange semester at Ramon Llull University.

My exchange experience in Barcelona has been an incredible and transformative chapter of my studies.

Attending law school there allowed me to explore European legal principles through a new lens, while also learning to adapt to different academic expectations and classroom dynamics. The city itself, full of creativity, energy, and architectural beauty, became the perfect backdrop for both learning and personal growth. Although I stayed in Spain only in Barcelona, the experience opened the door for me to travel across many other EU countries. From wandering through historic courts and museums to discovering new cultures, languages, and landscapes, each trip helped me understand Europe’s diversity in ways no textbook ever could. Traveling on weekends and during breaks taught me how to be independent, organized, and open-minded, turning every journey into a small lesson of its own.

This exchange was far more than an academic semester; it was a period of self-discovery. It strengthened my confidence, broadened my worldview, and created memories I will carry for life. Barcelona gave me a home away from home, and Europe gave me a sense of freedom and curiosity that I hope to keep forever.
