14 December 2025

On 12 December 2025, 50 secondary school students gathered at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) for an interactive session hosted by Professor Dame Madeleine Atkins, Senior Fellow of CityUHK’s Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) and the 9th President of Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge. The F.4 to F.6 students attending the talk were from Kowloon True Light School, True Light Girls’ College and Ying Wa College. In an interactive format, Prof Dame Madeleine invited students to examine what success means in a global context, and how young people can begin to identify evidence of their skills while recognising areas for further development.

In his opening remarks, Professor Chan Chi-hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement), said, “By providing secondary school students with exposure to international perspectives through CityUHK, we aim to broaden their horizons, encourage early reflection on future pathways and nurture a global outlook among these young learners.”

This was the second time Prof Dame Madeleine engaged in an interactive sharing session with secondary school students. The first session, held in October 2025, was attended by about 50 students from Maryknoll Convent School, Wah Yan College (Kowloon), and Hoi Ping Chamber of Commerce Secondary School.
