CityUHK hosts Chinese Foundation Secondary School delegation to strengthen secondary-tertiary education collaboration

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Chinese Foundation Secondary School (CFSS) on 23 February 2026, showcasing its commitment to nurturing Hong Kong’s next generation of talent through close partnerships with local secondary schools.

The delegation was led by Dr Annie Wu, Chairman of the School Sponsoring Body of CFSS; Mr Dickson Ho, School Principal of CFSS; and Ms Marina Wong, School Supervisor of CFSS. They were warmly received by CityUHK’s senior leaders, including Professor Michael Ngai, Council Chairman; Professor Lee Chun Sing, Provost and Deputy President; and Professor Chan Chi Hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement).

In the welcoming remarks, Professor Ngai highlighted the importance of bridging secondary and tertiary education. “At CityUHK, we have long placed strong emphasis on fostering close collaboration with local secondary schools. By leveraging our resources and expertise, we aim to support the holistic development of Hong Kong's youth and contribute to strengthening the city's position as a leading international education hub in Asia and beyond.” He added that the visit symbolised the strong bridge CityUHK is building between secondary and tertiary education in Hong Kong.

The programme began with an overview of CityUHK’s latest strategic developments presented by Professor Lee. It was followed by introductions of the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) programme by Professor Kate Flay, Assistant Dean of Teaching and Learning (BVM), and the Veterinary Immersive Programme by Dr Howard Wong, Director of Development for Veterinary Medicine.

The delegation then embarked on an exclusive guided tour of CityUHK. They first visited the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) (presented by Dr Fraser Hill, VDL Director), the Anatomy Laboratory (presented by Benjamin Flaum, PhD student), and the Necropsy Suite (presented by Professor Elliot Chiu, Assistant Professor of Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences), gaining valuable insight into state-of-the-art facilities which form the cornerstone of CityUHK’s world-class veterinary education.

The group also explored the JC STEM Lab of Energy and Materials Physics, guided by Director, Professor Ren Yang, where guests witnessed cutting-edge research in advanced materials for green energy.

The visit concluded with a guided tour of the special exhibition “Prototyping”, led by Professor Michael Tse, Associate Vice-President (Innovation). The exhibition connects CityUHK experts from various disciplines and local artists, offering inspiring insights into interdisciplinary collaboration and artistic innovation.

The delegation expressed great appreciation for the warm hospitality and the valuable exposure to CityUHK’s cutting-edge programmes and facilities, particularly in veterinary medicine and STEM fields. Both parties look forward to further strengthening collaboration to support the holistic development of Hong Kong students.
