The Hongqiao Cerebro-Cardiovascular (C2) Health Guardian Programme is an 18-month community health initiative that aims to advance public health awareness and early detection of chronic diseases through innovative screening technologies and education.
Supported by the generous sponsorship of China Hongqiao Group Ltd, the programme is coordinated by the Office of the Vice-President (Community Engagement), and led by Principal Investigator Professor Steve Wong (Associate Vice-President (Community Engagement)), alongside Co-Principal Investigators Professor Kannie Chan (Director of Hong Kong Centre for Cerebro-cardiovascular Health Engineering, COCHE), Professor Ting-Hsuan Chen (Founder of Cimple Biotechnology Limited), and Dr Kate Qi (Founder and CEO of SG Diagnosis). These three collaborators bring together cutting-edge expertise in biomedical engineering and point-of-care diagnostics to deliver impactful, accessible health solutions.
The programme will conduct 15-20 large-scale community screening events, initially focus on Kwun Tong, Sham Shui Po, Sha Tin and Tsuen Wan districts. Screenings will target individuals aged 45 and above, especially those at higher risk of chronic conditions. Each event will offer comprehensive health screenings including:
- HbA1c – Diabetes risk;
- Lipid profile – Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides;
- Blood pressure – Hypertension risk;
- BMI & Waist circumference – Obesity and metabolic risk;
- UACR – Kidney failure risk;
- IMT measurement and plaque detection – Carotid artery health; and
- Blood glucose – Diabetes risk.
To ensure continuity of care, Yan Chai Hospital will provide follow-up support for individuals identified with health needs through its “Free Consultation and Medicine Charitable Fund”, offering access to Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment at no cost.
