CityUHK engages community with free CityUHK Milk giveaway at “Sham·Coffee·Fair” in Sham Shui Po

16 March 2026

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) actively participated in the popular two-day coffee culture event “Sham·Coffee·Fair” (深·啡) held at Cheung Sha Wan Promenade from 14 to 15 March 2026, drawing over 35,000 visitors and marking the first major commercial activity at this scenic waterfront venue.

Organised by the Sham Shui Po District Office, Sham Shui Po District Council’s Working Group on Boosting Local Economy, Sham Ching Youth Association, and Sun Hung Kai Properties Charitable Fund, the pet-friendly festival themed “Bring Your Pet for Coffee” ran from noon to 8pm each day. It featured approximately 25 themed stalls offering specialty coffees, light bites, pet lifestyle products, alongside latte art workshops, busking performances, community shows, and photo-friendly installations that encouraged families, friends, and pet owners to enjoy the harbour views and spring vibes.

Professor Chan Chi Hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement), was invited to serve as an officiating guest at the event. As a supporting organisation, CityUHK set up an engaging booth to connect with the local community and promote the University’s innovative and sustainable initiatives. Visitors were invited to play a simple yet fun CityUHK-themed puzzle designed to highlight key features of the University. Upon completing a section of the puzzle, participants received a complimentary box of CityUHK Milk—a fresh, locally produced dairy product from CityUHK Farm that has gained popularity for its quality and ties to the University’s One Health initiatives.

In total, 1,000 boxes of CityUHK Milk were prepared for free distribution over the two days. The giveaway attracted an overwhelming response, and the entire stock was snapped up very quickly. Many visitors, including families with pets, appreciated the University’s outreach to the Sham Shui Po district.

This participation aligns with CityUHK’s ongoing community engagement efforts in Sham Shui Po, building stronger bonds with local residents and supporting initiatives to revitalise the neighbourhood’s economy and cultural vitality.
