Blue-emitting Pt(II) carbene phosphors for OLED Displays

We develop blue-emitting Pt(II) carbene phosphors using a 3+1 coordination architecture: two carbene ligands provide three C-coordination sites to enhance molecular rigidity, spin-orbit coupling (SOC), radiative rate, and sublimability, enabling vacuum deposition. The design targets ultra-low efficiency roll-off and robust stability. Seed funding will deliver proof-of-concept (PoC) data (PLQY, lifetime, and EQE at high luminance/roll-off), pilot-scale materials, and joint panel evaluations to support licensing and scale-up. Phosphorescent OLEDs harvest nearly all excitons, achieving higher efficiency, lower power consumption, minimized heat, wider gamuts, and HDR-ready displays at low energy cost.
