University of Gothenburg

Criminology, culture, and cozy Swedish vibes!

LEE Chi Yin (Bachelor of Social Sciences – Criminology and Sociology) made the most of her exchange at the University of Gothenburg—balancing academic insights with unforgettable moments.

My exchange semester at the University of Gothenburg🇸🇪 was transformative both academically and personally. As a criminology and sociology major, studying topics like feminism and human rights gave me a new global perspective on social justice. Through social theories, I gained deeper insight into how different cultures approach equality and systemic reform.

What truly made this experience unforgettable was the people I met. I formed strong connections with friends from around the world, and together we filled Gothenburg with laughter and joy. From fika at Haga to autumn walks in Slottsskogen, bike rides, island hopping, and late-night parties, every moment became a cherished memory. Celebrating Christmas together and experiencing Swedish traditions made it even more special.

Returning to Hong Kong was bittersweet. I’m deeply grateful for the friendships that have endured beyond borders. This exchange not only enriched my academic journey but also taught me independence and expanded my global family.
