Jönköping University

New places, new friends, new discoveries.

HUNG Siu Wang (Bachelor of Engineering – Information Engineering) experienced new insights through his time at Jönköping University in Sweden

Living in a new culture and stepping into an independent lifestyle has been one of the most rewarding parts of my exchange, both personally and academically.

At first, living alone felt overwhelming. Simple things such as grocery shopping, cooking, and managing finances were all new challenges. Over time, I have grown into it. I have become more confident, independent, and comfortable handling life on my own.

One of the best parts has been the people. Jönköping University is incredibly diverse, and I have met friends from all over the world. Through group projects, events, and everyday life, I have built connections that have made this experience feel like home in a new place.

Academically, I have been diving into network programming and graphic design, two areas I am genuinely passionate about. The hands-on approach has pushed me to apply what I learn in real projects, strengthening both my technical and creative skills.

I have also been learning Swedish. It has not been easy, and my progress has been slower than I expected, but I am continuing to practice. Even small conversations with locals or practice sessions feel like meaningful progress and keep me motivated.

Overall, this exchange has been a journey of growth. I am learning to live independently, building meaningful friendships, and challenging myself academically. I am grateful for every part of it and excited for what is still to come.
