Composing the Clown Face of Kunqu Opera

This workshop offers a special cultural exploration for the participants, allowing them to savour Kunqu opera in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, while experiencing its profound artistic charm.

Highlights of the workshop

  • Professional guidance: Our instructor, an esteemed senior Kunqu opera actor, will demonstrate traditional Hualian makeup techniques.
  • Hands-on experience: Participants will apply makeup themselves, gaining a deeper understanding of the symbolism and cultural connotations associated with each character.
  • Cultural exchange: The instructor will share insights from his stage experience of interpreting the Luohan characters.
  • Performance appreciation: Participants will experience the theatrical tension through small-scale performances.
