Professor Arindam Basu named IEEE fellows
Professor Arindam BASU

Three scholars from City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) have been elected as Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Fellows in the Class of 2026 for their outstanding research contributions, further underscoring the University’s leading position in the global academic community. Among the newly elected Fellows is Professor Arindam Basu from the Department of Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering.

Professor Basu’s research focuses on bio-inspired neuromorphic circuits, low-power analogue and mixed-signal integrated circuit design, and programmable devices for edge computing. His recent work extends to neuromorphic architectures for in-memory computing, event-based processing, secure edge processing in biomedical applications, and circuits that mimic neural dynamics.

These innovations aim to reduce energy consumption while achieving adaptive and robust performance in resource-constrained environments. By integrating principles of neuroscience with electronic design, Professor Basu’s research provides critical technological support for applications in AI hardware, implantable medical devices and the Internet of Things (IoT), driving the development of next-generation intelligent systems.

The other two scholars are Professor Dong Lixin from the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Professor Liang Weifa from the Department of Computer Science. The exceptional achievements of CityUHK scholars continue to earn widespread international recognition.
