Overview

CityU has exchange links with over 450 partner universities worldwide. The University welcomes applications from exchange students. Before you apply, please check with your home institution to see whether CityU is one of its exchange partners.

Institutional level exchange

College/School/Departmental-level exchange

After nominated by your home institution, you will receive emails with application information and login password.  Please login your application account at the online application system and complete your application online.

 

Applications should be sent directly to the respective academic units of CityU. Online applications may be available for some academic units. Please check the application method with the exchange coordinator of your home institution before submitting your application.

 

The normal load for a full-time student is 12-18 credits for Semester A or B, or 6 - 7 credits for the summer term.  Please select at least 6 courses (for Semester A or B) / 3 courses (for summer term) from the list of undergraduate courses for exchange students:

Course codes starting with 1, 2, 3 or 4 (e.g., GE1111, CS2114, AIS3012, MA4152) are undergraduate courses.  Course offerings may change without prior notice.  

Scanned copies of the following documents should be uploaded via your online application account before your submission of online application.

  • Official transcript
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • Course outline of your home institution (if necessary)

Upon receiving your application with sufficient document, the Admissions Office will process your student exchange application and consult the departments offering the courses listed in your initial study plan. A letter of acceptance will normally be sent to you by early April (for June entry), early July (for September entry) or early December (for January entry). The Global Engagement Office can assist you in matters relating to student visa applications.

Use of Application Information

Application information, including your HKID card/passport number, will be used in the admission evaluation process. Upon your enrolment in the University, such information will become part of your student record and may be used for any purposes relating to your study in accordance with University procedures.

In accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, you have the right of access to and correction of the information contained in your application, as well as the right to request a copy of such data. If you wish to obtain more information, please write to the Admissions Office. You may be charged a fee for each request.

The application data of unsuccessful applications and unenrolled applicants will be destroyed at the end of the admission exercise.
