Beatrice Lee obtained her first degree at The University of Hong Kong and graduated with distinction in the Master's degree in Information Systems at City University of Hong Kong. Before joining CityU, she worked for the Government of Hong Kong in the Headquarters of the City and New Territories Administration.

Beatrice begun her career at CityU with the operational management of student admissions, registration and records. Between 1991 and 1994, she was involved in supporting the University level senior committees including  the University Senate, the Course Validation and Monitoring Committee and the Academic Policy Committee. She also served the  programme validation panels of various Colleges and departments in creating new academic programmes. She was also involved in setting up the new School of Law and the School of Creative media. 

From 1996, as a member in the Office of the Vice-President, Planning and Information Services, she participated in projects such as the English Language Reengineering Study, the World Leaders in Higher Education Forum in 1997 and the Digital Library project.

Her professional interest and expertise extends to providing effective support to the development and strengthening of the corporate governance of the University. She supported the University Council in setting the mission and the strategic direction of the University from 2002 to early 2013, with the last two years as Secretary to Council and the University Court. She further strengthened her studies in higher education management  graduating as Doctor of Education with the University of Leicester. She joined the College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences in 2013 as an Associate Director.
