Access to Other UGC Libraries - JULAC Library Cards
Eligibility
Levels of Access
- No restrictions for staff members and postgraduate students.
- For undergraduate degree students:
- Registration will be valid until the end of the academic year, i.e. 31st July each year
- Students have to submit new applications on or after 1st August for the renewal of the JULAC Library Cards in the new academic year
- For all staff and students:
- HKUST Library allows open access. Staff and students may use their staff/student cards for entry.
Processing Fee
- Free for staff and postgraduate students.
- Undergraduate degree students will be charged $50 by each host library for each registration and renewal.
Important Notices
- Loan periods and access to resources may differ from library to library.
- Some libraries impose "black-out" periods during times of high library use (for example, during final examination
periods) when JULAC card holder may not enter. Users are advised to consult
individual libraries' webpages for details of opening hours and black-out
periods.
- A JULAC Library Card is a privilege, not a right. JULAC has the right to terminate
any JULAC Library Card issued at any time.
- PolyU will participate in the Reader Card programme for UGC-funded undergraduate
degree students as well as Borrower Card programme for UGC-funded postgraduate
non-degree students for a trial period of two years from August 2007 to July
2009.
Application Procedure
- Applications should be made online.
- The JULAC Library card and a set of seven identical print "JULAC Library Card Application Form" will be available for collection at the Circulation Counter after 4 working days (Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays are non-working days) upon successful application. Please be reminded to bring the following when collecting the card:
- A copy of "JULAC Library Card Application - Confirmation Notice"
(It can be the printout of the confirmation notice that displayed on the screen after the online application process is completed or a copy of the confirmation notice that the users receive at their CityU email accounts.)
- For staff (not applicable to students), please also submit a recent photo (1" x 1 1/2") and come at least one hour before the Circulation Counter closes so that there is time for the Library to process the photo.
- The print "JULAC Library Card Application Form" must be signed and presented together with the JULAC Library Card as well as the CityU ID Card upon each registration and renewal with each of the seven university libraries. A barcode or a stamp will be put on the JULAC Library Card by each library. For staff and postgraduate students, registrations are free of charge, but for undergraduate students, please pay $50 to each host library for each registration and renewal.
- Please return the card to the Library (Circulation Section) on leaving CityU.
