CityU Foundation dinner to thank supporters
CityU Foundation’s first annual dinner was held on 26 November 2015 to thank donors and friends
for their support to the University. More than 200 guests participated. To highlight the theme of
the event “Together We Make a Difference”, Honorary Chairperson of the Foundation and Council
Chairman Mr Herman Hu Shao-ming, Chairperson of the Foundation and University President
Professor Way Kuo, other CityU representatives and alumnus took to the stage as singers and
fashion models. The HK$2.36 million raised that evening became a seed fund which supports
CityU students aspiring to start their own businesses.

Mr Herman Hu Shao-ming said in his welcoming remarks that the dinner, coinciding with
Thanksgiving Day, was a special opportunity to thank donors and friends for their longstanding
support over the years. He pointed out that, although the CityU Foundation had been established
only for a short period, CityU had made significant progress in a range of disciplines. Mr Hu expressed
his wish that the Foundation would continue to support academic and research developments.

Professor Way Kuo said he was grateful to all donors and supporters for helping the University’s
advancement, so that talented faculty from around the world were attracted to the University,
enhancing the quality of teaching and research, and making CityU a leading university.

Mr Cliff Sun Kai-lit, BBS, JP, Chairman of the Organising Committee of CityU Foundation Annual
Dinner 2015, gave a vote of thanks to the guests, saying that during the organising of the dinner,
he experienced first-hand that CityU was a
City University of Hong Kong Foundation 香港城市大學基金
fast-growing, world-renowned university.
He said he also witnessed the profound
affection and enthusiasm of prominent
leaders and alumni for CityU, and was deeply
impressed. He then handed over the flag for
the annual dinner to Dr Yeung Kin-man, JP,
Chairman of the Organising Committee of
the Foundation Annual Dinner 2016.
