Dr. Xin Li's research explores crucial issues linking economic development, environmental protection, and land policy in different institutional settings. Through comparative approach, Li is particularly interested in economic restructuring in rapidly deindustrializing regions, social and environmental problems accompanying fast urbanization, and land conflicts arising from rampant urban expansion. Before joining CityU, Dr. Li taught at Columbia University and MIT in the United States and the IUAV University of Venice in Italy. She has served as a consultant to organizations such as the World Bank and the Appalachian Regional Commission. Dr. Li has a PhD degree in Urban and Regional Studies from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Urban Planning from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor; and a B.A. in Economics from Renmin University of China.
