The first batch of local start-ups to receive investment funding under the HK Tech 300 Angel Fund from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has been announced on 26 April 2022.

Super Bamboo is one of the start-up companies awarded the HK Tech 300 Angel Fund. It is founded by Professor Lu Yang, Mr Andy Ong, Dr Fan Rong and Dr Surjadi James Utama, who are all from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Super Bamboo has created an augmented bamboo material that is three times stronger than natural bamboo, does not release formaldehyde, and is suitable for construction.
