Abstract:

There is little doubt that there has been a widespread implementation of intelligent building (IB) technologies in many contemporary building developments. The idea of IB has achieved considerable attention in the academic arena as well as within the industry for the past two decades. As the concept of IB is comparatively new, a diversified nature and scope of studies has been documented so far. Although the literature facilitates the understanding and improves the knowledge of practitioners, the existing IB studies still lack a systematic review and a clear further research direction. This seminar aims to take stock of existing research achievements in IB area and have a fresh look at where research should be heading and how it can benefit from the advances being made.
