We spend a lot of time living and working inside buildings. Poor indoor air quality, ventilation and spreading of pathogens are major threats to building occupants. Prof. Alvin Lai will introduce the basic concepts and the way to improve our living environment. On the other hand, many buildings in Hong Kong accommodate high density of occupants, and they may be easily killed by smoke in case of fire outbreak. Proper smoke control strategy can direct the smoke flow to maintain a safe building environment for occupants to evacuate. Prof Eric Lee will explain some practical techniques in smoke control.
