Teachers’ Development Day@CityUHK for True Light Girls’ College – Exploring the Challenges of AI in Education
On 6 June 2025, 61 teachers from True Light Girls’ College visited City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) for the tailored-made Teachers’ Development Day@CityUHK, which focused on AI in education and the development of art-tech education.
In his welcome remarks, Professor Chan Chi-hou, Vice- President (Community Engagement), emphasized the importance of fostering exchanges between university academia and secondary schools to advance education for the next generation.
The day featured a talk titled “Challenges and opportunities of AI and education – reshaping teacher roles, inspiring personalized and team-based learning” presented by Professor Ray Cheung, Associate Provost (Digital Learning). Additionally, Professor Lam Miu-ling, Associate Professor, School of Creative Media, delivered a talk on the role of art in interdisciplinary education.
Participants also had the opportunity to visit the School of Creative Media and experience the art-tech programme “City in Time”, an augmented reality (AR), immersive, urban heritage experience that vividly brings the landscapes of old Hong Kong to life through a smartphone or tablet.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the exhibition “Central African Art – Innovation of an Unseen World” at the Indra and Harry Banga Gallery.
The Teachers’ Development Day provided an invaluable platform for educations to connect, learn and explore new strategies for inspiring and engaging students.
