City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) welcomed students from Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School and Lok Sin Tong Leung Kau Kui Primary School for two engaging campus visits across February and March 2026, offering enriching experiences that combined scientific exploration, innovation, and interactive learning.

During the visits, students from both schools explored the “Prototyping” exhibition at the Indra and Harry Banga Gallery through guided tours. The exhibition showcases original innovations developed by CityUHK researchers, highlighting how creative ideas are translated into practical solutions that address real-world challenges. Through this shared experience, students gained insights into interdisciplinary research and the role of innovation in shaping communities.

Complementing this common element, each school participated in tailored activities suited to their learning levels and interests. Around 60 International Baccalaureate (IB) students from Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School joined a chemistry-themed programme. The visit featured a talk on forensic science delivered by Professor Vincent Ko, Department of Chemistry, followed by laboratory demonstrations on mass spectrometry and infrared spectroscopy, where students observed advanced analytical methods in action.

In addition, the 132 primary students from Lok Sin Tong Leung Kau Kui Primary School took part in a series of interactive activities, including a guided campus tour and a visit to the “Story of the Ocean Giants: Cetaceans & Sea Turtles” exhibition. A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to enjoy CityUHK ice cream, made with fresh milk produced at the University’s dairy farm in Lam Tsuen, Tai Po, offering a distinctive campus experience.

These visits provided students with valuable opportunities to engage with science and innovation in an interactive environment, broadening their understanding of academic possibilities and inspiring their curiosity about the world around them.
