On 7 March 2026, the “Caring for Cerebro-cardiovascular Health” Programme unfolded at Lok Sin Tong Leung Kau Kui Primary School, bringing together community leaders, volunteers, and residents for a full day of health checks and awareness activities. The programme successfully screened about 100 participants, marking a significant milestone in community health promotion.
With support from City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and the Hong Kong Center for Cerebro cardiovascular Health Engineering (COCHE), the event was organised by the Chung Wah Sub-district Care Teams (Yuen Long), and co-organised by the New Territories People’s Association.
The event was attended by Mr Peter Roichandani, Liaison Officer in charge (Town 3), Yuen Long District Office; Mr Leung Siu On, Clifford, MH, Captain, Chung Wah Sub-district Care Teams (Yuen Long); Ms Fung Choi-yuk, MH, Chairperson, New Territories People’s Association; Professor Chan Chi-hou, Vice President (Community Engagement), CityUHK; Professor Steve Wong, Associate Vice President (Community Engagement), CityUHK; Professor Kannie Chan, Director, COCHE; Ms Wong Wai Ling, Member, Yuen Long District Council; and Ms Chen Yuen Ting, Principal, Lok Sin Tong Leung Kau Kui Primary School.

Mr Leung mentioned that this was the first ever health screening event by District Care Teams to utilise CityUHK’s scientific innovation, exemplifying how academic institutions, community organisations, and local networks can work hand in hand to promote healthier, more resilient communities.

Professor Chan highlighted CityUHK’s role in translating research into direct community benefit, safeguarding the health of citizens in a practical, accessible way. Looking ahead, he expressed his hope that the initiative would expand to other District Care Teams, spreading the spirit of care and health across Hong Kong.

Following the ceremony, participants underwent health screenings that included baseline measurement, intima‑media thickness (IMT) assessment with plaque detection, as well as blood pressure and blood glucose checks.
