An inspiring campus visit for E-League Programme students

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) welcomed 17 students from 17 secondary schools in Eastern District on 4 December 2025, introducing them to the University’s learning environment, innovation culture and student life. The students were selected participants of the E-League Programme which is launched by the Eastern District Office since 2014-2015 to support youth development by strengthening the youth network at district level and contributing to the community.

In his opening address, Professor Chan Chi Hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement) thanked Dr Bobby Liu, Consultant of Eastern District Youth Affairs Advisory Committee, and alumni of CityUHK for introducing the elite students to his alma mater. “In the same spirit of the E-League Programme in Promoting Self-reliance, Steeling Oneself and Contributing to the Community, we believe that CityUHK’s collaborations with schools, community organizations and the government sector can offer the next generation opportunities to explore, discover their strengths and grow with confidence,” said Professor Chan.
During the visit, students attended an admission talk which provided them an overview of diverse academic options at CityUHK. Through an introduction of the HK Tech 300 programme and a sharing by Mr Roland Leung, the founder of Datality Lab, one of the HK Tech 300 start-ups, they got an insight into how ideas can translate into entrepreneurial projects. In addition, students joined a DIY workshop on building a simple antenna, toured the School of Creative Media where they learned about new media studies, and visited the “Story of Ocean Giants: Cetaceans and Sea Turtles” exhibition.
A student sharing session hosted by Professor Steve Wong Hang, Associate Vice-President (Community Engagement), offered first-hand perspectives on campus life, overseas exchange, and extracurricular involvement. Three students from veterinary medicine, data science and global business shared their learning and university experiences. Together with the student residence tour, these experiences highlighted the broad global opportunities and co-curricular pathways available to CityUHK students.
