Senior Education Development Officer in the Talent and Education Development Office [Ref. B/817/09]

The Digital Learning Designer will spearhead the operations of our specialised Digital Learning Adoption (DLA) team, utilising their expertise in MOOC (massive open online course) production. This role involves collaborating with course leaders to craft innovative learning experiences through the use of appropriate digital technology.  The appointee will also supervise digital learning media producers to ensure the delivery of courses at the optimal level of digital learning adoption.

Duties

  1. Lead a digital learning team to support all students and staff in using various eLearning tools such as Canvas, Turnitin, and Panopto;
  2. Oversee the deployment and maintenance of digital learning platforms;
  3. Source new digital learning solutions to improve student learning experience and teaching quality;
  4. Deliver training sessions for faculty to empower effective applications of the solutions;
  5. Provide expert advice on the financial and operational aspects of various digital learning initiatives;
  6. Request and manage the institutional budget to support institutional digital learning initiatives; and
  7. Co-teach a postgraduate student teaching and learning course: SG8001.

Requirements

  1. A doctoral degree or equivalent professional qualification in an academic discipline recognised by the University;
  2. At least 12 years of experience in the higher education sector;
  3. Substantial experience in implementing eLearning/Digital Learning initiatives at the institutional level and outstanding teaching experience;
  4. Expert in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and related technologies;
  5. Strong track record in technology-enhanced learning and pedagogies; and
  6. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and evidence of working successfully in leading a team are required.
  7. A good record of publications related to teaching and learning would be an advantage.

The Senior Digital Learning Designer will spearhead the operations of the specialised Digital Learning Adoption (DLA) team, utilising their expertise in MOOC (massive open online course) production. This role involves collaborating with course leaders to craft innovative learning experiences through the use of appropriate digital technology. The appointee will also supervise Digital Learning Media Producers and effectively manage digital learning equipment and related resources under the office to ensure the delivery of courses at the optimal level of digital learning adoption.

Duties

  1. Implement and oversee the digital learning adoption plan to guarantee its successful execution;
  2. Work closely with subject matter experts to create innovative pedagogical strategies using suitable digital technology;
  3. Lead a team of Media Producers in the production of digital learning content;
  4. Track the delivery of courses incorporating digital learning content;
  5. Ensure that courses achieve the optimal level of digital learning adoption; and
  6. Manage and effectively utilize available digital learning resources to support learning and teaching.

Requirements

  1. A Master’s degree in Education/Creative Media or related disciplines, with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in digital learning course design, or a Bachelor’s degree in related disciplines, with at least 10 years’ post-qualification experience;
  2. Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese;
  3. Demonstrated experience in digital learning design at the tertiary education level, including the operation of MOOCs;
  4. Knowledge of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in education;
  5. Experience in leading a technical team in a higher education institution; and
  6. Exceptional interpersonal, organisational and time management skills.
