The Baosteel–CityUHK Joint Research Centre drives innovation across new materials, AI and advanced manufacturing — targeting high-end development, intelligent manufacturing, green transformation and efficiency in the steel industry.
CityUHK formed an alliance with École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) to establish a joint Institute for Materials Innovation, backed by MoUs with multiple industry partners. CityUHK ranks 18th globally for Materials Science & Engineering (GRAS 2024).
A 30th-anniversary initiative, the Hong Kong Institute of AI for Science leads AI-driven research across computer science, data science, statistics and bioinformatics. Five academic and industry partners — including the Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, Chinese Academy of Sciences — signed MoUs at launch.
An immersive ~50-metre LED-lined digital corridor connecting the campus to Festival Walk, launched as a dynamic platform to showcase the University’s research and innovation. It won a Silver Award ("Interior Design – Best Education") at the Asia-Pacific A&D Awards in February 2026.
Hong Kong hosted its first International Summit of AI for Science, co-hosted with the Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, drawing 300+ researchers and industry professionals to chart a course for AI-driven innovation.
Organised by CityUHK Press with the Strive and Rise Alumni Club, the "Venture into Your Future @ CityUHK cum CityU TechVenture Series Seminar" brought together 120+ alumni, government officials and industry leaders — including 9GAG and GoGoX co-founders — to explore start-up journeys for young innovators.
Held at D2 Place ONE in Lai Chi Kok, the Innovation@Community Carnival showcased HK Tech 300 start-ups across Education, Food, Healthcare, Lifestyle and Sustainability zones — translating lab research into community solutions.
