CityUHK Scholarships
for Hong Kong Talents


CityUHK is committed to nurturing the talents of students and creating applicable knowledge in order to support social and economic development. To attract bright local talent, CityUHK Scholarships for Hong Kong Talents have been set up for Hong Kong students with excellent HKDSE or GCE "A" level / IB results applying to government-funded bachelor's degree programmes. The scholarship awards will cover up to six years of study, depending on the normal duration of the registered undergraduate programme.

Local JUPAS entrants

President's Scholarship and Hong Kong Tech Scholarships

  1. Target:
    High-scoring local JUPAS entrants to a Bachelor’s degree programme offered by the College of Engineering, the College of Science and the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
  2. Eligibility for Application:
    1. Local JUPAS school applicants of the relevant academic programmes with a school-predicted HKDSE score# of 28 or above can submit an application.
    2. Applicants of the scholarship must be sitting the HKDSE examination for the first time in 2024 only. Repeat students are not considered.
    3. The award of scholarship will be subject to the following conditions:
      1. successfully gain admission to a specified programme as a JUPAS Band A choice;
      2. obtain a specified HKDSE score# (to be specified by the selection panel) in the HKDSE examination in 2024.

    # The HKDSE score is calculated by adding the scores of 3 core subjects and 2 electives (exclude "Citizenship and Social Development") with the best results (see "Scoring Scale" below).

  4. Selection Criteria
    Besides academic results, the selection panel will consider other merits and attributes of the applicant in areas such as intellect, leadership, character, aspiration and passion, and language proficiency.
  5. Application procedures

    Interested JUPAS applicants can submit their applications via an online form by 7 June 2024, with a school recommendation (including predicted HKDSE scores) separately sent to the Student Development Services (SDS) by their school (via email address: sds.scholarship@cityu.edu.hk) by 14 June 2024.

    Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an in-person interview around early July 2024. The result will be announced shortly.

Flagship Scholarships

  1. Target:
    Local JUPAS entrants who register one of the four flagship programmes in JUPAS as below:
    1. Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM)
    2. BBA Global Business (BBA GBU)
    3. Global Research Enrichment and Technopreneurship (GREAT)
    4. Pathway for Research, Innovation, and Multinational Engineering (PRIME)

  2. Characteristics of Flagship Programmes:
    • Globally oriented curriculum for talented students
    • Overseas academic/research exchanges at top universities
    • Internship/Placement at prestigious institutions (applicable to professional programmes)
    • Guaranteed admission to respective PhD programme in Science/Engineering (upon attainment of entrance requirements)

Remarks:

  1. All scores should be obtained in one sitting. Repeat subjects are not considered.
  2. HKDSE Category A subjects and Mathematics extended modules (M1/M2) are counted. If students take both M1 and M2, they will be counted as one subject.
  3. If English Language is used to count toward "5**", Level 4 or above must be attained in Chinese Language, and vice versa.
  4. The HKDSE score of ≥23 is calculated by adding the scores of 3 core subjects and 2 electives (exclude "Citizenship and Social Development") with the best results (see "Scoring Scale" below).

Dean's Scholarships

IMPORTANT NOTES :
  1. JUPAS entrants are not allowed to hold Institutional Scholarships, Dean’s Scholarships, Flagship Scholarships, President's Scholarship and Hong Kong Tech Scholarships concurrently.
  2. If an entrant is selected for more than one scholarship, only the scholarship with the highest amount will be awarded.
  3. All scholarships, namely Institutional Scholarships, Dean's Scholarships, President's Scholarship and Hong Kong Tech Scholarships, shall be automatically renewed each year on condition that the student achieves the specified Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at 3.2 or above by the end of Semester B each year.
  4. For Flagship Scholarships, it shall be automatically renewed each year on the condition that the student continues his/her study in the flagship programme by the end of Semester B each year.
  5. No application is required for the Institutional Scholarships, the Dean’s Scholarships and the Flagship Scholarships. Eligible students will be notified of the scholarship awards by email on the JUPAS Main Round Offers announcement date on 7 August 2024.
  6. JUPAS applicants interested in the President's Scholarship and the Hong Kong Tech Scholarships are required to submit their applications separately according to the application procedures specified above.

Remarks:

  1. Results in GCE A-level / International A-level are accepted. Two AS subjects are considered to be equivalent to one AL subject. The same subject cannot be counted at both A Level and AS Level
  2. The Scholarships shall be automatically renewed each year on condition that the student achieves a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at 3.2 or above by the end of Semester B each year.
  3. No application for the scholarships is required. Email notifications on the scholarship awards will be sent to eligible students before the start of Semester A 2024/25 (2 September 2024), upon receipt of the GCEAL/IB final results from students.

The University reserves the right, at its entire discretion, to withdraw or suspend any scholarship, and to review, modify, revoke, or add to relevant scholarship regulations. In the event of any disputes, the decisions of the University is final.
