Objectives

Shock waves represent a fundamental and prominent nonlinear phenomenon in fluid dynamics. Their mathematical study constitutes a significant and challenging area of research within nonlinear analysis. For several years, Mathematics at CityU has engaged in productive research collaborations on this topic with leading international institutions, primarily through individual partnerships. To elevate and consolidate these efforts, we are organizing a three-day international conference.

This event aims to gather experts to share and discuss the latest trends, breakthroughs, and future directions in the theory of shock waves and related fields. It will serve as a dynamic platform to strengthen CityU collaborative ties with world-renowned universities and research centers, including the University of Oxford, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Texas at Austin, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Wuhan University, and East China Normal University.

We believe the conference will play a pivotal role in stimulating advanced research in mathematical analysis. By facilitating interdisciplinary dialogue, it will provide a valuable opportunity for researchers from diverse backgrounds to connect.
