航天代表團與科技及高等教育界午宴交流 孫東:續培育更多優秀科研人才 [商報] 2023-11-30
On Wednesday, November 30, Professor Yiming Zhong from CityU Physics, alongside Professor Johnny Chung Yin Ho (Director, Knowledge Transfer Office, CityU), had the privilege of attending a luncheon hosted by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau to meet and exchange views with the China Manned Space delegation (中國載人航天工程代表團) and other representatives from Hong Kong's technology and higher education sectors.
"This luncheon was not only a significant gathering but also an enlightening experience for me, particularly in terms of our department's engagement in space science," said Professor Zhong.
One of the highlights of the luncheon was the opportunity to meet four astronauts who have successfully completed missions to the Chinese space station. Furthermore, Professor Zhong had the chance to interact with researchers from other universities across Hong Kong. During the discussions, he emphasised the potential for conducting astrophysical observations at the Chinese space station. In return, they shared their experiences and pathways for getting involved in projects related to the space station, which could be invaluable for the students from CityU Physics and faculty's future endeavors in this area.
An additional noteworthy point from the luncheon was the news about Hong Kong candidates being considered as payload specialists for future space missions, which could open up new possibilities for Hong Kong’s participation and contribution to the advancement of space exploration and science.
