Equine Facilities

The Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine programme at CityU will cover the range of species required for international accreditation and extend to also cover fish and marine invertebrates. Coverage of horses is essential, and for all students it will begin with basic horse handling skills in the first year and progress through to an equine medicine component in the clinical rotations.

The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences has established a relationship with the Hong Kong Jockey Club that will extend to a physical presence and the infrastructure required for undergraduate teaching. An equine teaching facility will be made available that would facilitate the teaching of “core competencies” at the time of graduation and students will get to experience equine ambulatory practice with Hong Kong Jockey Club veterinarians. Further, final year students with a special interest in equine practice will be able to undertake elective clinical training in the cutting edge clinical facility at Sha Tin.
