The Department of Neuroscience (NS) played a central role in the successful delivery of the APSN-FAONS-HKSN 2026 Neuroscience Conference in Hong Kong, welcoming over 400 participants for three and a half days of scientific exchange, collaboration and discovery.
The meeting brought together an exceptional group of internationally recognised neuroscientists. The event’s keynote lineup includes world-renowned neuroscientists, such as Prof. Hailan Hu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Prof. Graham Collingridge, FRS, co-recipient of the 2016 Brain Prize. The programme also featured leading researchers across neural circuits, neurotechnology, neurodegeneration, social neuroscience and molecular neuroscience, reflecting the depth and global reach of the conference.
The Department’s contribution extended from scientific leadership to on-the-ground organisation. Prof. Wing Ho Yung, Chair of the Main Organising Committee, led the overall organisation of the meeting. Prof. Kwok On Lai, Co-Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee, helped shape a rigorous and wide-ranging scientific programme and special sessions while Prof. Geoffrey C. Y. Lau, Co-Chair of the Local Organising Committee, contributed to the coordination of local arrangements and the participant experience.
Departmental colleagues contributed actively as speakers, chairs and session participants throughout the conference. The Department’s postgraduate community was also strongly represented, with many students and postdoctoral fellows presenting posters, exchanging ideas with leading researchers and developing valuable professional connections. Their participation illustrated the Department’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of neuroscientists.
The conference provided an important platform for building regional and global partnerships, showcasing the Department’s research community and advancing dialogue across basic, translational and clinical neuroscience. Its successful delivery reflects the dedication of the organising teams, contributors, students and collaborators who helped make the event possible.
