The Department of Neuroscience (NS) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) successfully hosted the Neural Circuits in Health and Disease Conference 2025 from 8 to 9 December 2025 at our CityUHK campus. This conference was co-organised by the CityUHK’s College of Biomedicine and Department of Neuroscience, Hong Kong Society of Neurosciences, and the Neuroscience Research Centre at The University of Hong Kong (HKU).
The conference was particularly significant as it was the very first neuroscience conference hosted by the NS, and it also celebrated the 45th anniversary of the Hong Kong Society of Neurosciences, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of neuroscience in our region.
During this two-day event, the conference featured two distinguished plenary speakers from overseas: Prof. Bong-Kiun Kaang of the Institute of Basic Science in South Korea and Prof. Javier Medina of Baylor College of Medicine, USA. Both shared valuable insights and research findings with the participants. They were joined by 15 local and international speakers who presented their latest research on a range of topics, including normal and abnormal sensory functions, cognition, neurodevelopment, neuroplasticity, and technical innovations in neuroscience. Additionally, the conference featured a successful poster session with over 60 presentations from early career scientists, who showcased their innovative research and competed for prestigious poster prizes.
The event attracted more than 180 attendees from Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland faculties, as well as postgraduate students, fostering a rich exchange of ideas within the neuroscience community. The Neural Circuits in Health and Disease Conference 2025 provided an opportunity for valuable insights and collaboration among participants, contributing to the ongoing dialogue in the field of neuroscience.
