The Laser Engraver is a desktop laser engraver and cutter designed for creators. With a 10W (optical power) laser, it delivers faster, deeper, and smoother engravings on materials like wood, leather, acrylic, anodized metal, glass, and more.
The Laser Engraver can provide the following features:
- Achieve intricate details with 0.05mm accuracy for professional-quality results.
- Works on different materials, including wood, leather, acrylic, coated metals, glass, and slate.
- Cylindrical Rotary Engraving: 360° engraving on tumblers, mugs, etc.
Eligible Users
All CityUHK students, staff of programmes leading to CityUHK awards including associate degree, bachelor's degree and postgraduate degree.

How to use Laser Engraver
- Book the Laser Engraver service via Booking System.
- The user should only cut with specific material listed above. The user should not cut other material without prior approval.
- You must wear laser goggles for extra protection of your eyes.
- While the laser engraver is operating, be aware of its status and you must not leave it unattended.
Setup Steps
- Place on a Stable Surface – Ensure the LP2 is on a flat, non-flammable surface.
- Connect Power – Plug in the power adapter and turn on the device.
- Install Safety Glasses – Always wear protective eyewear when operating the laser.
- Connect to Computer/Phone – Use USB or Bluetooth (if supported) to link with your device.
- Download the LaserPecker App from the Official Website or app store.
- Pair the Device via Bluetooth or USB.
- Import or Design Your Artwork – Use SVG, DXF, JPG, or PNG files.
- Adjust Settings – Select material type, power (%), speed (mm/s), and engraving mode.
Engraving Tips
- Test on Scrap Material – Always run a small test before full engraving.
- Focus the Laser – Adjust height for optimal sharpness (follow manual instructions).
- Ventilation – Work in a well-ventilated area or use an air assist accessory.
- Avoid Reflective Materials – Metals like stainless steel may require special coatings.
Safety Precautions
- Never leave the laser unattended – Fire risk exists.
- Wear protective glasses – Laser beams can damage eyes.
- Avoid flammable surfaces – Use a metal or ceramic base if possible.
Booking Policy
- Each time slot is a one-hour session.
- The laser engraver operation MUST not last longer than 30 minutes.
- The user should only cut/engrave/operate with specific material provided by the Library. The user should not cut/engrave/operate other material without prior approval.
- For cutting the other material, the Library shall not be responsible for any loss, damages, or liability (whether direct, indirect or otherwise).
- Please note the booking quota of each service in CREATE!
- You are required to show up within the first 15 minutes for the session you have booked. Your reservation will be expired and automatically cancelled after 15 minutes.
- Reservations are limited to a maximum of 8 hours per week.
- Bookings can be made up to 5 days in advance.
- To ensure fair access to all eligible users, the facilities are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.
- The facilities are used only for lawful purposes. No one will be permitted to use the facilities to cut objects that are against the law, obscene, in violation of another’s intellectual property rights.
- Any unsafe and dangerous operation with the laser engraver are strictly prohibited.
- In case of accidents, user should report to the Library staff immediately.
- All booking requests are subject to approval based on scheduling and availability. The Library reserves the right to refuse any requests for any reason.
