HOT-AR

HOT-AR: Enhancing the learning of chemistry laboratory skills by combining hands-on tactile (HOT) experience and augmented-reality (AR) technology.

HOT-AR enables student to learn hands-on experimental techniques remotely by combining 3D printed 1:1 replicas of lab apparatus with sensors and augmented-reality experiment simulation software. With this technology, it is possible to collaborate on group experiments, with students manipulating the phantoms at home, while visualising the instructor and other students in the same metaversal space. In the long term, big data on learning performance can be collected, allowing the effectiveness of new pedagogies to be systematically quantified.
