Dr Jiwen Cai is a Business Development Manager for Agilent Technologies. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry, and has more than 30 years of both academic and commercial experience. While working as a professor at Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, Dr/Prof Cai led multiple research projects, co-authored two books, published more than one hundred research articles, and served as editor, committee member and director for several academic journals and organisations. Dr Cai’s was among the top 2% most cited scientists according to the September 2022 “updated science-wide author database of standardised citation indicators”.

After joining the commercial world, Dr Cai drove the introduction of two start-up companies’ innovative technologies into both academia and industry in China and then to the remaining of Asia Pacific. Both companies were acquired by Agilent Technologies, a global leader in life sciences, diagnostics and applied chemical markets. Dr Cai then held various responsibilities in Agilent Technologies in Asia Pacific over the past 15 years, covering customer training, sales, channel integration, collaboration management, as well as business and market development.

Dr Cai is fascinated by the way innovations help make life easier, safer, more efficient and sustainable, and has been advocating the adoption of new technologies and tools. Being a trained and certified professional life coach, Dr Cai volunteers as a coach and mentor to help those in need deal with their challenges and move forward. She also serves on the board of directors for the Ascian Fund for Cancer Research.
