Removal of Canvas courses lasted for more than seven years

- Semester B 2016/17 Canvas courses will be deleted from Canvas.
End of Semester B 2023/24 - Arrangements for Semester B Canvas courses
Starting Tuesday, 14 May 2024
- User lists (students & teachers) in Semester B 2023/24 Canvas courses will be frozen (i.e. no updates from AIMS).
If the course activities will be extended beyond Semester B 2023/24, visit Settings of your Canvas course, select Participation: Course and specify a later date in End field.
Remember to click Update Course Details at the bottom.

Starting Sunday, 9 June 2024
- Semester A 2023/24 Canvas courses will become read-only unless a custom course end date is set. They can be seen under "Past Enrollments", by clicking "All Courses" under the Courses menu for all users.
Preparation of content in Canvas courses
There are a few options to prepare content in your Canvas courses.
- To reuse content from your previous Canvas course, please make use of the Import Existing Content on "Home" or Import Course Content on "Settings" page of your new Canvas course (Canvas instruction How do I copy content from another Canvas course using the Course Import tool?).
- Rebuild the Canvas courses by uploading content from your computer. For details, please view the 3-minute Canvas Video Demo at https://go.cityu.hk/plyov2.
Synchronisation of scheduling data in AIMS with Canvas courses for Summer Term 2024
Please note that the following automated processes will be applied on Canvas to facilitate learning and teaching:
Starting Tuesday, 14 May 2024
- Canvas courses will be created for Summer Term 2024 courses.
- Teacher users will be added and updated on Canvas courses based on data in the Master Class Schedule.
- Canvas courses will be populated and updated with registered students according to records in AIMS.
- Summer Term 2024 courses will be listed on the Dashboard, and under the Courses menu.
Starting Friday, 7 June 2024
- Sections within Summer Term 2024 master Canvas courses will be created and updated according to section records in AIMS for the purposes of communication and grading.
Reminder on Zoom and Panopto
- Zoom cloud recordings will be removed by Computing Services Centre (CSC). Please download the Zoom cloud recordings as needed in advance. Instructions can be found here, under the heading "Downloading and sharing a cloud recording".
- Please note the retention period of Panopto recordings/videos is currently Delete Content After 13 Months Since Last View. Instructors are advised to download essential videos from Panopto as a backup. Instructions can be found here.
